Por qué los equipos están saliendo Vultr

Vultr migrations we have seen come from procurement audits (B2B SaaS or fintech), GDPR DPO reviews flagging Vultr as a US-jurisdictional processor, or — increasingly in 2025–2026 — companies reading their own DPA carefully and realising "Vultr LLC, US" is not a defensible answer to a regulator question. The EU bare-metal alternatives at Hetzner, Leaseweb and OVH are well-established, generally cheaper, and operate under EU law.

Vultr-to-EU TCO: typically 30–45% cheaper, with the largest gains on bare metal (Hetzner is ~40% lower per equivalent spec) and GPU (Scaleway H100 hourly pricing is competitive). Egress savings are modest because Vultr has reasonable bandwidth pricing already.

No. The Constant Company LLC (Vultr's legal entity) is US-headquartered. The EU regions are operated under US corporate control and subject to the CLOUD Act. Region selection addresses residency only.

How does Hetzner bare metal compare to Vultr bare metal?

Hetzner has roughly 30–50% better price/performance on equivalent specs, particularly on the auction/used-server market. Provisioning is faster on Hetzner Cloud, slower on Hetzner Dedicated (1–24 hours). Vultr's bare metal advantage was historically the global region count; for EU-only workloads, that advantage doesn't apply.

What about GPU workloads — are EU options really competitive?

Yes for current-generation hardware. Scaleway has H100 instances available with EU jurisdiction. Hetzner has consumer/professional GPU servers. OVH has GPU instances including A100. The specific pricing varies but for the H100 generation, Scaleway is often the best EU option. For older generations (V100, T4), Hetzner is often cheaper.

How long does a Vultr migration take?

Typical workload (5–20 instances, some Object Storage, DNS): 2–5 weeks elapsed. With a managed partner driving it: 1–3 weeks. Vultr's product simplicity is a virtue here.

Can we move just the EU-customer-facing workloads?

Yes, this is a common partial pattern. Move EU-customer-facing infrastructure to a sovereign stack, keep Vultr for non-EU traffic. The discipline is to keep personal data of EU subjects strictly on the sovereign side, which often requires data segregation work in the application.

Will the migration cause downtime?

Not when done with proper choreography. Database migration via logical replication, compute via DNS-level traffic shift, object storage via dual-write — all standard zero-downtime patterns.
